GLOBAL CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC
Revised Opening Hours and Other Changes
Reduced Opening Hours
Our revised opening hours for the shop and post office are as follows:
Monday – Saturday: 9.30am – 3pm (post office closes at 1pm on Saturdays).
Our cafe is open from 10am – 2.30pm Monday to Saturday.
We have implemented social distancing measures allowing a maximum of 3 customers at a time in the shop to ensure we keep our customers and staff as safe as we can. Thank you for your patience in queuing.
Like many retailers, we do experience difficulties in getting hold of some stock lines. However, we are generally very well stocked particularly as we source stock from a vast number of suppliers including many local smaller suppliers.
Home Delivery and Click and Collect Services
We are providing home delivery and click and collect services during the Coronavirus outbreak. Please see Home Delivery and Click and Collect for details of these services and to access our current Product List.
Cafe reopening 6 July!
Our café is reopening on 6 July (outdoor seating only initially). We have seating for 32. The Parish Council have kindly allowed us to place our tables on the recreation ground so we have plenty of space between everyone. We have changed to table service so please take a seat at one of our tables and a member of the team will look after you. We have been able to reduce our café prices as a result of the recent VAT cut and will be offering 50% off all food and drink on certain days of the week during August. Please see the Cafe page for more detail.
Whilst we appreciate that the reduced opening hours for the shop, cafe and post office are a disappointment, we have a reduced team currently and have expanded our offering to include home delivery and click and collect services. Thanks to all our customers and volunteers for all the offers of help and support- we will all need to continue to work together in the months ahead.
Welcome to Fittleworth Stores, a community owned and run shop, café and post office in the beautiful South Downs National Park. We welcome villagers, visitors, cyclists and walkers to come and experience our warm and friendly atmosphere. Our team of staff and volunteers would be delighted to welcome you.
Our shop offers a wide range of local produce and reasonably priced general groceries (including household items and over the counter medicines), together with newspapers. We are keen to support local farms and businesses so we are proud to stock produce from over 30 local suppliers. Visit the shop page for more detail about the range of delicious local food we offer. We also stock a range of local pottery and art.
Need something delivered or need a lift? If you are struggling to get to us, we will do our best to try and help. Call 01798 865907 and we will see if we can deliver to you or provide you with a lift to the shop.
Our café offers sandwiches, snacks, cakes and cookies and a children’s menu. We have a dedicated café area within the shop and, for the days when the sun is shining, additional seating outside on our terrace. With free WIFI and views over the recreation ground and children’s playground we look forward to seeing you soon.
We are a true village shop at the heart of our community.
Our Post Office
Our Post Office Local provides a comprehensive range of services. In addition to buying stamps and posting parcels, you can withdraw cash, pay cheques into your bank account, pay bills, buy mobile phone top ups and buy holiday currency!
Fittleworth Stores is immediately adjacent to our fantastic village children’s playground with its wooden play equipment featuring pigs, a horse and cart, tractor and plenty more! The outdoor seating on our café terraces overlooks the playground and recreation ground. There is also a special section of youth equipment in the recreation ground with an outside table tennis table (bats and balls available for use from the shop), ball wall and climbing frame.
There are plenty of walks from the shop with commons, woods and the river all within easy walking distance of Fittleworth Stores. To find out more about our lovely village, it’s history and what’s on in the area visit our village website.
